Tahiti ist mit Abstand die größte Insel in Franz. Polynesien. Hier wohnen denn auch 2/3 der 300.000 Polynesier. Papeete, die Hauptstadt Franz. Polynesiens befindet sich im Norden von Tahiti Nui und bildet mit seinem Hafen, dem Kreuzfahrterminal sowie einem Internationalem Flughafen das Zentrum des Landes. Hier ist alles anders, von Ursprünglichkeit keine Spur. Die Rushhour morgens und abends brandet an unserer überfüllten Marina vorbei. In kurzen Abständen knallt ein zu hohes Fahrzeug scheppernd in die Höhenkontrolle des kleinen Tunnels. Zumindest wird hier nicht gehupt, dafür ist die Straße vor uns Tag und Nacht die Zufahrt für alle möglichen Rettungs- und Einsatzfahrzeuge. Papeete Marina ist der städtische Sportboothafen im Zentrum der gleichnamigen Landeshauptstadt. Sie ist nicht sehr komfortabel, aber alternativlos. Es gibt viel Schwell und Null Service. Reservierungen und Vorbuchungen sind nicht möglich. Einen Platz bekommen wir nur, da wir im Hafen Mitsegler kennen, die einen freiwerdenden Platz für uns mit einer Leine absperren und andere Platz suchenden Segler mit Schauergeschichten abwimmeln. Herzlichen Dank an dieser Stelle an Ralf und Gaby von der Katinka. Die Marina ist die mit Abstand teuerste während unserer nun 4-jährigen Reise. Andererseits erreichen wir fußläufig Restaurants, Geschäfte und Sehenswürdigkeiten – wir sind mitten drin. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich.
