Hull #29, dating from 2012, has spent 4 months at the Monfalcone yard in Italy undergoing a full refit carried out by the builders themselves: structural and mast inspection, bulkhead rework, replacement of engines, sails, electrics, plumbing, electronics, headlinings, upholstery, etc. Nothing escaped the Lagoon experts! What’s more, the catamaran, repainted in Star & Stipes blue, is now equipped with solar panels, a lithium battery bank, low-energy air conditioning and a wastewater treatment system. The cost of this more than complete refit (there are four levels of packs) is in the order of € 800K for a unit that trades on the second-hand market for amounts from € 1.3M. This brings the total to € 2.1M, which compares with the cost of a new, fully-loaded Lagoon 60 at around € 3.2M. A substantial difference that could well attract players in the luxury charter market. Wir lernen, dass das Groß den Gennacker abdeckt. Da eh kaum Wind weht, holen wir das Großsegel wieder runter, wobei eine Schnur des LazyJack reißt. Das Segel liegt chaotisch auf dem Oberdeck und stellt sich bei achterlichem Wind immer wieder auf. Ich krieche über das schwankende Oberdeck und versuche mit einigen Schooten dem Segelknäuel Herr zu werden. Zunächst segeln wir in einer langgezogenen Dünung, dann kommt jedoch Windwelle hinzu. Der Gennacker schlägt bei viel Welle und wenig Wind schrecklich hin und her. Irgendwann ist so wenig Wind, dass wir wieder einmal einen Motor starten. Der Stress aufs Material ist groß. Zweimal bricht die Genuaschoot. Das Fall des Gennackers bricht ebenfalls, sodass wir das neue Segel aufs Trampolin und dann zum Parasailor in die Vorpiek retten müssen. Nun summen wieder einmal die Motoren und verbrauchen Unmengen teuren Diesel. Tagsüber die Backbordmaschine direkt unter unserer Koje und nachts alternativ die Steuerbordmaschine. Dafür haben wir uns einen Katamaran gekauft, mit dem wir Anfang März 2021 von der französischen Atlantikküste auf die Barfußroute gestartet sind. Im Frühjahr 2020 erhielt ich die Diagnose Morbus Parkinson. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März 2021geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich.
