ERAORA is a very substantial and appealing yacht with gross tonnage of 134 tonnes. She was built to RINA class by Mural Yachts in Turkey, launched in Spring 2011, she was kept in class until 2016. Her hull is built of mahogany and sheathed and West epoxy systems were used. The result is an extremely strong yacht which enjoys all the benefits of wood in terms of insulation and feel. We believe her construction method, materials used, and execution are all great positives. Her design affords huge deck spaces; there is a wonderful shaded aft deck and the flybridge is a stand-out feature providing al-fresco dining and a choice of relaxation areas. ERAORA will allow you to entertain large groups of friends and family. With four spacious guest suites, two double and two twins, ERAORA offers outstanding comfort aboard. The saloon has large windows, an internal helm, dining area, with a large bar area as well as a sofa facing a large TV. ERAORA has only been used privately, but the layout would work well for an owner wishing to offer her for charter. She has plenty of space in her garage for water-toys and she can accommodate up to five crew. Her current owners use her as a family yacht in which they are fully involved, with just a single crew member. She is cutter rigged with powered furling for the headsails. With an LOA of just over 28 metres and a LWL of nearly 26 metres her twin Caterpillars can deliver 12 knots. She is extremely economical at speeds around 8 knots giving her a range of over 2,000 nautical miles under power. Her systems and fittings are of top quality and highly specified. This is the much requested boat tour of our new to us boat, Nordhavn 64-01. We are the third owners of this boat. She has just undergone an extensive revamp of the salon, and, some much needed refreshing in the engine room and generally. As we have carried out the work and had the work done, we have had numerous requests for a boat tour. During an overcast day in Port Sidney BC, Canada we decided to get the video done. In one take using our Insta 360 X5 we shot this 29 min video of the boat. We did consider two episodes but decided to do one long video. I am sure we can do shorter episodes or shorts in the future. Hans Lo dragged himself away from the permanent nightlife of Hong Kong’s to enjoy a calm four days at the sunny Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.  He spent most of the show inside the enclosed fly bridge of the luxurious CLB65, the baby of the range. Described as contemporary, cool and comfortable the nephew of Cheoy Lee Shipyards Director Martin, was clearly very comfortable on the luxe weekender and could easily see his friends or family heading off for a weekend of yachting on Victoria Harbour. He kindly took a break from showing prospective clients the vessel to give us a mini-tour. With several levels of customisation available in this model the company’s white and orange brand colours could be seen echoed throughout the chic open-plan layout. Wide white oak floorboards, echoed the relaxed interiors of beach resort, contributing a laid back resort feeling to the vessel. And free flowing indoor outdoor format of the yacht was founded on one of the shadiest enclaves of the marina. ► Full test in Multtihulls World N°204. ► Most of us have probably forgotten about the Edel Cat 35, Kat 28, Corneel 26, Aventura 23, and 28, to name just a few. Back in the mid-eighties, these Open catamarans were giant sports catamarans with a hard cockpit instead of a trampoline. The Aventura 23 and 28, based on older models, revived the concept in the early 2000s and these endured for about fifteen years... but since then, there hasn't been much to report. So it was with great interest that we discovered the Ventio, presented for the first time at the La Rochelle boat show. This catamaran, designed by Nicolas Purnu (a former partner of Marc Lombard, now based in Brittany with his own firm), has no hard nacelle - the central area is fully protected by a large retractable canopy – at least in its Open Space version. The galley will be located aft of the mast bulkhead, along with a U-shaped deck saloon and a large 85 cm x 135 cm (33½ x 52”) table on a sliding base. The berths are located in the hulls. The Ventio #1, rigged with a carbon mast and daggerboards, is clearly performance-oriented while offering comfortable accommodation in the cabins. Hull #29, dating from 2012, has spent 4 months at the Monfalcone yard in Italy undergoing a full refit carried out by the builders themselves: structural and mast inspection, bulkhead rework, replacement of engines, sails, electrics, plumbing, electronics, headlinings, upholstery, etc. Nothing escaped the Lagoon experts! What’s more, the catamaran, repainted in Star & Stipes blue, is now equipped with solar panels, a lithium battery bank, low-energy air conditioning and a wastewater treatment system. The cost of this more than complete refit (there are four levels of packs) is in the order of € 800K for a unit that trades on the second-hand market for amounts from € 1.3M. This brings the total to € 2.1M, which compares with the cost of a new, fully-loaded Lagoon 60 at around € 3.2M. A substantial difference that could well attract players in the luxury charter market. ► Full test in Multihulls World N°203. ► After its sojourn in La Grande-Motte where it made its world premiere, the Tricat 8.50 #1 returned to Brittany, where we got the opportunity to test it in the Gulf of Morbihan. The program for our trip out between two near-tropical squalls? Beaching on the shoreline and enjoying the thrill of gliding across flat water. Tricat, which has specialized in the under-30-foot folding trimaran sector since 2002, is replacing the valiant 25. Still folding, of course, the new 8.50 is logically much more modern than its predecessor, with an added touch of comfort and agility. The lifting daggerboards are found on the floats, freeing up the central hull. As for the companionway hatch, this has 3 positions and can be fitted with a sprayhood and sun awning. Inside, thanks to double chines, the 8.50 manages to offer rather decent headroom of 6 feet (1.82 m). Powered by twin 300 HP outboards, the Dracan reached 30 knots. On the day of our test, the sea was perfectly flat, but crossing the wakes of several other boats at full speed gave us a good idea of how it would handle in waves. In the curves, the 42 stays flat. The modern design of this semi-open hull is unmistakably successful, and the carefully designed layout, with 2, 3 or 4 cabins, will adapt to any program.
