Log 20 | We are Ed and Paige and we live aboard our 37 foot sailboat, Sea Pearl. In September of 2019, we sold the last of our non-essential belongings and set off to travel. We visited New Zealand for 4 months, traveled in a van around the Northeast US for 6 months, and then bought a sailboat. We then spent over 4 months preparing her for a life of offshore & off-grid adventures. You can check out what all we did in our previous videos if that’s something you’re interested in. Even before going on board you can see the extreme care that the boat had. 2 Permanent crew have been looking after her since she left the Fountaine Pajot Shipyard in 2016. After traveling for one summer in the Med, she mainly sailed around Lima. Only family use, she has never been chartered. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground - hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made.
