Last episode we had an unexpected message from a friend inviting us for a week of sailing in Amalfi coast. We jumped at the chance… then jumped on the plane a few days later! We travelled for three days on cheap flights and finally arrived in Naples, where we proceeded to get thoroughly lost. Making our way through the more “interesting” tourist destinations, we finally arrived at our Airbnb in the heart of the old town of Naples. the following day we set off exploring Naples, stumbling across old churches, catacombs and down narrow laneways until it was finally time to head to the boat, a 48ft Beneteau. We left before sunset to our first destination of the trip, Procida. The next day we set off to Sorrento and we examined the boat more closely with Adam doing a walkthrough. This was hands down one of the coolest things I've ever done. 6 dives over 2 days. We were swarmed by calm and curious lemons, silkies, a few nurse sharks, and a couple of shy bulls that kept their distance. We didn't get to see the 10' male tiger that patrols the area that we were hoping for, but we'll be back. You can't get a more intimate, up close and personal experience with sharks than this. Emerald Charters ran a tight ship and they were true pros in the water. These were among the more challenging dives I've done as you're in strong current and have to begin descending as soon as you hit the water to stay close together as a group. Definitely not a beginner dive.

Viaje a Corfú a bordo de un catamarán Lagoon 45 del 2019. Nos enrolamos 2 familias con 3 niños cada una. Tanto para ellos cómo para nosotros ha sido una experiencia impresionante. Hemos recorrido, el pueblo de Mourtos, las Islas de Paxoi y Antipaxoi. Paxos tiene 4 puertos naturales que son la belleza de esta isla, cada uno de ellos con sus servicios. ¿Qué es el Fondeo a la Griega? En este vídeo Sergi Alós, CEO de Top Sailing Charter, nos muestra como realizar un fondeo en un puerto "a la griega". En muchos puertos ya sea natural o no, nos podemos encontrar que no disponen de los llamados "muertos" (peso en el fondo) o "finguers" (pasarelas laterales) para poder amarrarse a un punto fijo, en estos casos es necesario utilizar el ancla como punto de apoyo. El proceso es sencillo, pero hay algunos detalles a tener en cuenta: En este caso atracamos un catamarán de alquiler Lagoon 45 a un puerto, para ello, fijamos la rueda en el centro para poder realizar el fondeo, dejamos ancla a unos 40 metros del puerto para asegurarnos de su anclaje quede bien cogido en el fondo y nos sirva de guía y de tensor para que el catamarán vaya atrás en línea recta. Una vez comprobado la fijación por proa (parte delantera del catamarán) nos amarramos al puerto con las amarras de popa (parte posterior del catamarán) por babor (parte izquierda) y estribor (parte derecha). Este tipo de fondeo también nos puede servir en caso de que queramos fondear en un cala, pero en este caso las amarras de popa se fijarán en las rocas o puntos de apoyo que podamos encontrar en el entorno.
