Both L&N like to paly it safe, so there are multiple fire extinguishers in the boat, in the shed, and ~60L of water in portable jugs as well. So far, no concerns, but with an enclosed space running welders, torchers, or grinders creates a lot of debris that could potentially cause an issue if we aren't paying attention.

► Founded in 2000 in Marans (near La Rochelle, France), the Aventura Catamarans brand was created by Eric Roger and his son Romain following the takeover of Go Marine, which manufactured small sport catamarans. The opportunity to take over the Camping Cat molds kick-started the adventure: the Aventura 23 (later the 23.5) was launched. The process continued with the Aventura 28, taken from the Diabolo molds, then the Aventura 36, similar to the Edel 36. STGI launched their first “real” models with the Aventura 33, followed by the 43 and 20, and set up in Tunisia in 2005 - in Tazarka, south-east of Tunis. 10 years later, Samer Lasta took over the design of the new models from the 34 onwards, and the yard moved to Menzel Bourghiba near Bizerte in 2015. It was this four-acre (16,000 m²) covered site, with its 300 employees, that we got the chance to visit. Here, in a former French Navy arsenal, they launched the 44, then the 37 and most recently the 45 in its sailing range. Powercats made their appearance with the A10, followed by the A14, which quickly became the Aventura 50 MY and was soon available in a 56-foot version. The weekender market was not to be outdone, with the launch of the Aventura 38 SC, which came in 4 versions. ► In Cape Town, where the largest production center of sailmaker Ullman Sails is now located, we discovered not just one sail-loft floor, but five or six! However, the story didn't begin in South Africa: it was in Newport Beach, California, that David Ullman, at the time aged just 21, built his first sail loft. The year was 1967. 12 years later, a second site was opened in Dallas, and growth continued throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Today, Ullman Sails is represented in 25 countries and has 75 sites. The largest of these is in Cape Town, South Africa, and this is the one we got to visit. There is a staff of 120, and sails of all materials are made here. There's one workshop dedicated to the manufacture of FiberParth membranes. It's also on these floors that the sails for the Leopard range - and many other catamarans built in South Africa - are made. Over the past 30 years, more than 100,000 sails have been produced here! Questa mattina abbiamo salutato il luogo che negli ultimi giorni ci ha regalato emozioni ormai incise nel nostro cuore per sempre. Spiagge bianche, acqua cristallina, mante, tartarughe, aragoste, clima mite, persone gentili. Galleggiamo dentro a un sogno. Nella diretta di oggi una persona ci ha chiesto come andasse la nostra “altalena emotiva”. Ci è piaciuta molto come espressione sia perché rivela che nonostante i video e le foto arriva il messaggio che attraversiamo anche noi dei momenti complicati, sia perché la metafora dell’altalena rende bene l’idea di cosa significa vivere sempre sulla cresta dell’onda. Sempre posti pazzeschi, sempre vento che soffia, sempre mete da raggiungere, sempre grati. Ma ogni pendolo deve oscillare anche nella direzione opposta, così noi ci sentiamo affaticati, spesso inadeguati, stressati per il lavoro, in pensiero per i nostri cari. In questi casi si può fare solo una cosa: imparare ad andare a tempo con il pendolo e godersi ogni salita e ogni discesa. Perché in fondo è proprio così che la vita funziona ed è una vana speranza quella di voler vivere sempre in cima all’oscillazione. Questo viaggio ci sta insegnando che in cima a ogni onda oceanica c’è una vista straordinaria e questo basta già. Ps: anche sotto le onde oceaniche vale la pena di guardare comunque… ben che ti va fai due bracciate con le tartarughe 🐢🩵
