Just as we were about to set sail here in Greece from the island Poros, our wind sensor suddenly stopped working. No wind direction, no wind speed. Not ideal when you're navigating open waters. Maybe it had been a bird? Or sun and salt damage? Or just one strong gust too many. Whatever the cause, I had to climb up the mast, attached to a line and helped with a winch. And ofcourse the new windmeter! So up I went — 22 meters high at the top of our catamaran’s mast and the camera rolling! I filmed the whole thing. Because this moment captures what it means to be a Digital Nomad: 🔹 Being ready to improvise 🔹 Making decisions to set clear couse again 🔹 Trusting your preparation, your partner and yourself 🔹 And staying calm, even with a shaky view ➡️ Want to see what it looks like up the mast, installing a new windmeter? 📹 Watch the video!
The danger of plastic pollution and its harmful effects on the planet’s wildlife and our own wellbeing – explained by kids. Every breath you take and every drop of water you drink comes from the sea. The ocean generates 50% of the oxygen we breathe, regulates the climate and is an essential source of food, energy and life. We produce nearly 300 million tons of plastic every year, half of which is single-use. We have developed a “disposable” lifestyle. Estimates are that around 50% of plastic is used just once and thrown away. Annually approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide. More than one million bags are used every minute. A plastic bag has an average “working life” of 15 minutes. Over the last ten years, we have produced more plastic than during the whole of the last century. It is estimated that 8 million tons of plastic pollute the Ocean each year – that’s a truck full of plastic produced every minute. We cannot deny that something is changing. If we continue this way, by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish (in weight). The good news is – it’s not too late! North Sails’ new video What About You? sends a powerful environmental message filled with a sense of personal responsibility for the destiny of our planet and future generations. It’s time to ask yourself: where do you stand? You too become part of the solution not part of the pollution. Step into the heart of Flores and witness one of the most striking cultural performances in Southeast Asia, the Caci Dance. Often mistaken for a war dance, Caci is a traditional martial art performance that symbolizes masculinity, leadership, and emotional discipline. The word “Caci” comes from the Manggarai language: “Ca” = one “Ci” = test Together, it means “a one-on-one test”, a ritual duel meant to test a man’s agility and self-control, not to harm. Each dancer wears a belt of bells, known as giring-giring, that ring with every movement, echoing rhythm, grace, and power through the arena. Once a coming-of-age tradition, Caci is now performed as a cultural showcase, inviting travelers from around the world to connect with the deeper stories of Flores. If you’re looking for more than just a vacation, if you’re looking for meaning, culture, and unforgettable moments, join us as we sail to the places where stories come alive. 🌏✨ Culture. Exploration. Discovery. 📹 : Tinae Siringo Ringo #CaciDance #CulturalTravel #HiddenGemsAsia #SailingAdventure #SlowTravel #EthicalTravel #ExploreFlores #CulturalExperiences #OffTheBeatenPath
