Little could the Victorian and Edwardian owners of six beautiful 52 feet identical gaff cutter cruiser-racers, and their young designer Alfred Mylne, imagine that more than 125 years later one of them would still be doing exactly what they'd conceived. Believed the last remaining ‘Clyde 20-Ton One Design', TIGRIS has been lucky to be almost constantly and extensively raced and cruised throughout her long life. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/752/TIGRIS And many of her owners gave back, and continue to do so to ensure that this beautiful, still very practical, fast, and superbly authentic, high provenance yacht continues to give pleasure and gain admirers. A relatively recent open heart surgery refit in current ownership by Chantier du Guip concentrated on the vitally important structural elements down below, where she is effectively only a decade old.

The modern Catamarans are made for comfort and not so much for sailing, that means they project a very large beam surface and the anchor cannot be effective with more than 15 kts of Crossing wind. To make the anchor effective you must upgrade to maybe 50 kg witch is unrealistic for this kind of boats, so make sure you protect your leeward quarter with a round fender or even better a permanent fender that can protect from any kind of accidental touch to the dock during your backing as well.

I am sure you know how to tie the Clove Hitch in the Bight, but I'm going to add it to my channel anyway because I remember doing it the first time and it seemed like a magic trick. 🔹 This is a useful quick knot. You know those situations where you jump off onto the dock with a 🌬️ breeze pushing you off and there's no-one there to help? Well, slip one of these clove hitches over a bollard or post and you've got yourself a decent temporary hold. You can bang one out in seconds... 🔹Make sure the other end is tied to the boat though! 😉
