The Damen Yachting team celebrated the keel-laying of the SeaXplorer 60 from our luxury expedition yacht range. The Netherlands-based design team joined the Antalya production team to witness the first steps in of this very exciting project. The SeaXplorer 60 is 60 metres in length (almost 200 ft) with exteriors by Azure Yacht Design and interiors by H2 Yacht Design. For her 12 guests on board, she has impressive capability and extensive provisions so that her 17 crew (including 4 specialist staff, guides, pilots, etc) can provide full luxury service for up to 30 days without port call. As well as an Ice Class hull for global voyaging, she has hybrid power and propulsion.

Although the island-continent of Australia has only 26 million inhabitants - just 8% of the population of the United States - it nevertheless boasts a huge community of sailing enthusiasts and yacht builders are also well established. This context has been conducive to the holding of a major international boat show in Sydney since 1968. A second major event was launched in 1989, at the Sanctuary Cove marina complex at the northern end of the Gold Coast, and in 2008, the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (just) beat its rival to the south. The 2024 edition, held from May 23 to 26, attracted almost 50,000 visitors, 300 exhibitors, 740 boats and no fewer than 2,500 boating products. This animation is made by KTF Cranes who will be craning out the 32m aluminium catamaran at our KM yard. The catamaran, previously called Ice Lady Patagonia II, will be at our yard for the next year or so while we perform a major refit and maintenance job on her.
