Miroslav “Mira” Slovak was a Czech Airlines pilot who hijacked his own plane in 1953 to flee the Soviet regime, eventually becoming a U.S. citizen, air race champion, and aerobatic pilot. This Rogue was built by a luthier as the "just-right" size amongst John Welsford's many capable camp cruising sailboat designs. Here it sails in Puget Sound with other participants in the 2019 Salish 100 Small Boat Cruise.
