On 5th March 1936, Captain Joseph 'Mutt' Summers piloted the first Supermarine Spitfire prototype, K5054, from Eastleigh Aerodrome. To mark last week's 90th Anniversary of this event we took to the skies with Spitfire K5054. We were then joined by another Spitfire painted in 16 Squadron markings which acted as a backup. It was an honour to share the skies with these aviation legends to mark this special anniversary. Here are some screenshots from the flight.
Elvstrom Sails UK team installing a new Epex Fat Furl mainsail to a Hallberg-Rassy 412, which required a much needed rig tune. It is so important to check your rig before you go sailing, this rig was slightly inverted, and after taking some measurements and resetting the rigging we were able to put the correct tension and pre-bend profile into the rig. We would recommend a yearly rig tune as well as before any sail is bent on, it’s great tha we do now offer this service in house at Elvstrom Sails UK.
