We are enclosing and extending our wheelhouse before winter for protect and so we can move the mainsheet from the top of the aft cabin to above the wheelhouse (better safety and a better sheeting angle). This is the second part of the fabric enclosure and the next prototype frame. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc). Is our logo a cheap ripoff of Sailing La Vagabonde? Did we use their old wooden helm as a circle? We actively follow more than 80 other sailing channels and combined they use almost every part of a boat, so, it is difficult to find something sailing related :-) But none of them uses the instrument a sailor stares at the most on watch during a passage...the wind indicator. The problem with ALL wind indicators is that they discriminate against Catamarans! So, we decided to speak up for the minority group :-) We broke the monohull's nose to form two hulls ;-) go catamarans! It is the real, and on scale, top view of the Leopard 45 Catamaran. Oh, yes, to give it personal touch, Petro and Frik are profiled to say it is our channel, our logo. Thank you for all our subscribers! We want to visit off the beaten tack places and need to prepare for ice bergs, storms, heavy seas, as well as nice tranquil tropical waters... Follow us on our journey as we learn from legends when Sailing La Vagabonde upgraded from a monohull to a catamaran...SV Delos wants to upgrade to the latest Amel 51 monohull....Gone with the Wynns chose a Leopard Catamaran....choices choices choices. We looked at other sailing channels such as Wicked Salty, Satori, Jessica and Ryan, Catamaran Impi, MJ Sailing, Happy Together, Sailing Uma, Sailing Yacht Ruby Rose, Zingaro, Miss Lone Star, Sailing Doodles, Drenched, Lucky Fish gets Away, RAN Sailing, Out Chasing Star, Follow the Boat, Rigging Doctor, Sailing Lady Africa, Abandon Comfort, and many others to find our answers and solutions, whilst we prepared our yacht in Cape Town, South Africa.
Rain and a light 8-10 knot northerly accompanied Master Lock Comanche as she entered the Sydney Heads this morning a little after 11am, taking Line Honours in the One Circular Quay Audi Centre Sydney BWPS Cabbage Tree Island Race. Unfortunately for Law Connect, which was powering towards the Heads almost in sight of Comanche through the rain, the breeze clocked left into the northwest and died in between the Heads, leaving Law Connect having to tack to round South Head. And yes, that is Crosbie in the video trying to take photos in the rain with an umbrella up!
