This video illustrates the force of the wind while on a close hauled/close reach with one reef in the main and 2/3 of the Genoa out in 17 knots of wind with 23 knot gusts. Our speed over ground last week ranged from a comfortable 6.5 knots to 12.5 knots. As you may know, the Lagoon 450 is well known for its capability to sail in low wind and down wind. We also realized the 450's ability to provide a controlled and comfortable “banging up wind” experience during our 21 day trip around the BVIs.

This might have not been a lap of the planet for these highly accomplished sailors and their crews, but there was no doubt that as the longest leg so far it was also the most complex and, as it turned out, the most stressful too. From straight line blasts to full on park-ups, the leader board took several major shuffles and ensured that few of the crews got much sleep at all during the 1,400 mile leg.

This video was taken from a Plage d'Essaouira in November 2023 to showcase the beautiful Global Surveyor at anchor near this vast, golden sandy beach located just outside the old town. Essaouira is a vibrant and lively place that functioned as Morocco's main port, exporting caravan goods to the rest the globe. The 10 day @gowestsailing adventure started in Gibraltar, we then sailed down the Moroccan coast to Agadir before we left for Canary Islands.
