The River Class is the oldest class racing on Strangford Lough and the fleet of 12 boats which first raced at Royal Ulster Yacht Club have now moved to Strangford Lough Yacht Club (SLYC). The boats were designed by naval architect Alfred Mylne and their origins trace back to 1919 when Belfast Lough sailors were looking for a simple and elegant one-design class to race. The pre war Mylne designs have lovey long line that making them timeless beauties amongst classic boat fleets. The owner of these timeless racer maintain traditions of the early days of racing ensure that the boats continue to race hard under strict one design rules ignoring the temptation to allow modern ropes and sail clothes to alter a formula that was worked so well for over a century of racing. As classic yacht racing has become more popular it is hard to go past the River class which has so much to offer.

Bigger. Going above 100 feet has usually meant giving something up, either on design or on the way a boat actually sails. The ONE HUNDRED PLUS range exists because we were never willing to accept that trade. The Gunboat 120 is a proof of concept, a buildable full custom yacht that shows one of the directions the yard can take at this scale, carrying the same obsession with weight, balance and beautiful lines that has defined every Gunboat before it. Every yacht in the range is a one-off, never a catalogue. Each one is designed around a single owner's programme, whether that means far flung expeditions, Pacific cruising or a family season in the Mediterranean.
