We arrived at the island of Chios and, as is typical during this time of year, we were the only boat at the quay. We did notice some kind of rack sticking out over the water when we tied our put up at the quay. It turned out that we had docked right in front of the only restaurant that was open, and their specialty was “sun-dried octopus,” which was lying there drying in the sun. Even though the weather was sunny, we still needed some extra electricity—for example, to run a load of laundry. During the low season, electricity is often turned off for sailors, and that was the case here as well. We asked the restaurant owner if we could roll out our 50-meter power cable to the restaurant to get electricity for two days. Of course, we were willing to pay for it. But Greeks are often so hospitable and friendly—it wasn’t necessary. It was around lunchtime, so we showed our gratitude by having lunch and drinks there. A win-win situation! I filmed the restaurant and how our electricity cable was set up—funny to see, also the octopus and the tree in the restaurant!

Il giorno della partenza si avvicina e le cose da fare diventano impellenti. Iniziamo con la novità: Habemus pezzi di ricambio del timone! 💪💪 Lunedì faremo i lavori. Per il resto ci siamo portati avanti con le commissioni: Portare la vela rotta a valutare se c’è ancora qualcosa fare o se l’accanimento terapeutico può fermarsi. Brutta notizia: il materiale è liso e consumato dagli anni e dal sole. Non c’è niente da fare. Chi sa cucire delle borse con i materiali della vela? Cerchiamo partner per business proficuo 😄 Nel negozio nautico prendiamo alcune cose utili. Dovete sapere che chi entra in un negozio nautico ed esce a mani vuote non ha guardato abbastanza tra quegli scaffali che ospitano mille soluzioni ad altrettanti problemi. Per cena celebriamo la partenza insieme a Silvia e Giorgio, presto di ritorno in Italia anche loro, via aereo. Abbiamo brindato ai ritorni. Che siano sempre più ricchi delle partenze. Significa che il tuo bagaglio è cresciuto e non c’è ricchezza più grande a costo zero 🫶

Wir wollten bei diesem Meilentörn unsere Segel-Komfortzone erweitern. Daher beschlossen wir im Vorfeld, dass wir die über 500 Seemeilen lange Strecke von Korfu nach Lignano nonstop zurücklegen wollen. Und es ist uns auch gelungen :-)
