The 'car' is something the genoa sail sheet passes through and we can adjust it's position along the deck to alter the angle that the sheet pulls down of the genoa. You will see how we need to set the sheet lead car for the headsail to the forward end of the track to allow the sail to adopt a fuller shape. We set it like this when the wind is coming from behind the boat. Hard to believe that last June we we’re having a great time in Yellowstone National Park. I read someplace that “There are moments which mark your life. Moments when you realize nothing will ever be the same and time is divided into two parts - before this, and after this.” Such as it is with our life before the accident and after right now. We miss Yellowstone terribly but feel so grateful that we can still have our memories and our life here in the Caribbean. Fun fact: We are 4584 miles away from where this reel was made.🤭. .

The bowmen and woman are a made of tuff stuff. Life at the pointy end of any yacht is never dull, from call the distance to the start to setting up for sail changes they are always on the go. Light, fast on there feet and always their to figure any issue that you get into make the bow man or woman one of if not the most valuable members of any yacht racing crew. When you get a hold of a good bowman be sure to feed them just enough beer after each race to keep the sharp for the next days racing and keen enough to come back for more. This was a bottom up boats Mumm 36 memory for the the annual frosties series on Strangford lough.
