5 years ago we replaced our saildrive diaphragm seal. Full video ➜ https://youtu.be/o_Bv7_tAOY4 We used CT1 sealant to secure the gaiter / boot between the saildrive and the hull. People have asked how the sealant has lasted (these seals often come loose) and this video reveals the answer! Join our Patreon Crew here! Meet one of the reef’s most charming oddities — the Donald Duck Shrimp (Leander plumosus). With its distinctive duck-bill shaped rostrum, bold red-and-white markings and delicate transparent body, this tiny crustacean is a master of disguise in the busy textures of Indo-Pacific reefs. Often found tucked into crevices or living amongst sponges and hydroids, it survives through clever camouflage, social behaviour and precise timing as it moults and grows. In this short underwater glimpse from EXPLORER Issue 6, discover the fascinating life of this small but remarkable reef dweller — a reminder that wonder in the ocean is often found in the tiniest details.
► Presented in a world preview at the La Rochelle boat show, this catamaran, designed by Nicolas Purnu (a former partner of Marc Lombard, now based in Brittany with his own firm), has no hard nacelle - the central area will be fully protected by a large retractable canopy. The galley will be located aft of the mast bulkhead, along with a U-shaped deck saloon and a large 85 cm x 135 cm (33½ x 52”) table on a sliding base. The berths are located in the hulls. This Ventio #1, rigged with a carbon mast and daggerboards, is clearly performance-oriented and even optimized for sailing on one hull, thanks to a comprehensive NKE electronics package connected to two Cyclops electronic turnbuckles. This means it will be possible to monitor shroud tension in real time: it looks like it’s going to be sporty for our test scheduled at La Rochelle. ► Builder: Windpearl Yachts Architect: Nicolas Purnu Material: PVC/glass/vinylester foam sandwich Length: 34’9” (10.59 m) Beam: 20 ‘4” (6.21 m) Draft: 35” or 20”/6’11” (0.89 m or 0.5/2.1 m) Displacement: 8,150 lbs (3.7 t) Mainsail: 355/474 sq ft (33/44 m²) Self-tacking solent: 183 sq ft (17 m²) Code 0: 474 sq ft (44 m²) Motors: 2 x 10 HP ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests!
