Boat life in JUNE 2023 by the numbers🧾 The most exciting number is our overall engine hours — we’ve hit the magic number for things to have melded together 🙃 never mind Shane has been trying to solve a new problem with the engine 😋 We’ve been living aboard full time for one year and after two years of owning our boat, we’ve renamed her to Shorleave - Shane is the fourth generation of Donogh men to have a Shorleave vessel. We were able to visit with a relative of his while off Spencer Spit who has also had a Shorleave. We stayed on the mooring ball at Rosario for a couple nights so the kids could get some swim time in — a couple nights on the DNR ball at Cypress and a couple on the dock at Jones Island. Our marina stay was to replace our water pump 💵 🚰 Anchorages are $0 and only possible because of the money 💰 put into upgrading batteries and adding solar over the past year. The kids have been paddling, playing in the water, hiking (begrudgingly), working on math and grammar, reading, doing boat chores, helping with land runs, and still playing Fortnite. Groceries are 🍌 🍌🍌 shopping at Safeway saved me money when we were anchored off Anacortes. We’ve officially been on the Friday Harbor waitlist for a slip for two years. I bet our number is going to be called any day! 😉 until then there’s no complaints over here!! Sunset sea views are one of our absolute favourite things about cruising, and a real plus for choosing a balcony cabin. But even when we are sailing with an ocean/sea view or even in an inside cabin we do everything we can to drink in those end of the day rays while relaxing on deck or in a bar/lounge.

ORC 57 from @marsaudoncomposites2326 ▫️ Grand Large Yachting, owner of the Outremer and Gunboat brands bought the Marsaudon Composites shipyard in September 2023. ▫️ That's good news if you are a performance multihull fan as this manufacturer, based in Lorient in Brittany France, had some financial challenges this year. ▫️ What are your thoughts? 👇 ▫️ As we reported from Cannes, Grand Large Yachting now owns the assets, the teams and the ORC brand. ▫️ The Marsaudon Lorient submarine base will also be building the Outremer 45 to free up capacity in La Grande Motte for the group. ▫️ What next for ORC? Probably a relaunch of the ORC range: the 42, 50 and 57. ▫️ What would you like to see them do with this brand? 👇 ▫️ Their ORC 57 catamaran builds on the style and design philosophy of the other models with fluid lines, and a muscular, sporty structure for long cruises and high-performance navigation. ▫️ The ORC57 comes with 4 large twin cabins, accommodating 9 people.
