Deploy the life ring. Use the deep beach reach method with engines on for maneuverability. Through out the maneuver, keep the vessel as close as possible to the victim. Tack the boat, turn downwind and sail back down and slightly past the victim so that you will approach from a downwind position. Position the victim on the windward side of the boat. If you're learning to sail, you should know this information before venturing out. When turning on engines, always check for lines in the water that can entangle the prop. We’ve officially hauled Sabado out of the water at Port Whangarei Marine Center in New Zealand, and the refit has begun! In our latest video, we take you through a day in our new routine: starting the morning at our rental house, commuting to the boatyard, and diving into our first big boat projects. We kick things off by tearing apart our bed to prep for a major power system upgrade. We also give you a tour of the yard facilities, and remove our cockpit fridge to make way for a new one. It’s a strange feeling seeing the boat on land with empty cabinets, but we’re excited (and a little nervous) about what’s ahead.
