The Istana, Meditation Redefined What if we could wake up every day, elated and exhilarated by the pure aliveness of our surroundings? Excited and nourished by the quality of the company we keep? How much better could we be? The Istana is one attempt to answer that question. Combining the ancient and modern, The Istana allows technology and tradition to exist side-by-side. Modern bio-hacking methods (cryotherapy, sensory deprivation tanks, infra-red saunas, and hyperbaric chambers), are being utilised in tandem with meditation, yoga, and breathwork. Whatever it takes to create the optimum life, we are willing to find it, and share it with our clientele and community. We believe that world-class people, deserve world-class experiences. This is just where we facilitate them. Our aim is to provide a space where those seeking can not only find world-class services, but can explore how to apply these to themselves. Before we bought Adhara and became liveaboards we went on a sailing charter in Lanzarote for a week to try out if we could imagine living on a sailboat and how I’d feel about sailing in general. We did that in November of 2019 and a funny story about it is that I absolutely hated the first day! 😆 I couldn’t imagine why someone would actually enjoy sailing. I was scared, I got wet, I was freezing and I felt seasick for 6 hours straight and had no clue what a sheet is and what wind angle means. Apparent or true wind… wait, what? You guys can’t imagine the disappointment in Jans's eyes when I told him „no way in hell are we doing that“ 😂 Spoiler: the story has a good ending 😉 The second day we had the most beautiful weather and sailed around La Graciosa and Montaña Clara. I fell in love with the otherworldly landscape and raw beauty of these islands and enjoyed the gentle Atlantic swell, the idea of sailing as a means to explore this beautiful world we live on grew on me!
