► Our Australian correspondent Kevin Green got the opportunity for a test sail aboard the XF75, a luxurious powercat that is as high-performance as it is exclusive, with a superstructure that doubles as a helipad. This powercat, offered by New Zealand manufacturer Voodoo Yachts and unveiled at the recent Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, features a carefully optimized hull and foils that allow it to reach speeds of up to 50 knots. In addition to this impressive speed for a 75-foot vessel, the Voodoo boasts fuel consumption well below that of an 85- to 90-foot monohull superyacht offering the same features: the usable area measures some 3,000 square feet (279 m²)... By limiting its speed to 8 knots, the XF75 is capable of ocean passage-making. I saw this technique used in one of the Sailrite videos where the person sewing was asssembling several identical pieces. They used one long strip of basting tape to create the seam on all the pieces, then fed all the pieces through the machine almost as if it was one piece. This is a REAL timesaver!! I intended to include all of this in the "Sewing the Sail Pack" video but somehow forgot. Rather than re-edit the ENTIRE video, I thought I'd give YouTue Shorts a try!
