Craziest experience of my life, says Runa Aasheim. Being face to face with orcas was more powerful than I ever imagined. Runa joined us for a week on board Valiente, freediving with orcas and whales. It was a good week, with saling, northern lights and freediving. *Please Note : This video was shot towards the end of production so not everything shown in the video has been finished to Columbia Yachts usual high standard. "The Columbia Carbon 32 is a lifting keel boat so that allows us to trailer the boat home from long races - you don't have to sail it! The keel lifts vertically (through the window on the cabin roof) with a winch that drops into place on the boat so you don't have to sail with the lifting mechanism in place which saves weight."
Hugh and Suze crossing St. Catherine's Sound on the GA coast on December 01, 2012. Tide was ebbing and wind was incoming from the NE making the crossing a little testy. This is actually quite normal anytime the wind and tides oppose each other in these sounds. At least this time the waves hadn't built up more that a foot or so.
