Seacocks are bronze valves in a boat and are used as a safety measure for closing off holes below the water line and keeping water out of the boat for either maintenance or emergencies. We have 4 total on Seawind, and one of them has been giving us trouble for the past couple of years. I cleaned and greased this particular seacock, and ever since, it’s seeped a bit of water into the boat. The only way I could stop the leak was to tighten the valve so much that I couldn’t turn the handle! Live right now for our patrons AD FREE is EP. 55 of Sailing Seawind! We take you through the process of lapping a seacock, Katy tackles some projects of her own, and so much more! This early live viewing each week can be available to you over on our Patreon! This video was shot on Stefan Voss’ Archambault 35 OM ripping along into the darkest night on the Round Skagen Race 2022. That night they sped through the fleet keeping up with 50 and 55-footers. The finish of the 510-mile race was much less excited as they picked their way from catspaw to catspaw to keep moving in the lightest of breezes.

This is the new solar panel support option! It allows for 6 370W LG panels to be placed aft of the rigging blocks located on the cockpit roof. I believe this option is only available when going for the "ES" (Extended Scoop) model/option, as that model has more buoyancy aft. The two panels that are in front of the four you can see are mounted athwartship (sideways), which opens up more access to the boom and also makes those panels less likely to be shaded by the boom or mainsail. In addition to the above, it also provides shade/protection for the tender. These supports are made from carbon fiber and then fiberglassed and carbon fibered onto the coach roof and each can support a person hanging from them. Mira is being built with these supports and a total of 8 370W panels. The additional two will be mounted forward on the coach roof; one on the port side, one on the starboard.
