A dear friend (also sailor) Jean-Maurice was battling last stages of cancer. He's got the sailing bug. Sailed this passage before on a Class 40. I sent him this short of myself back in January 2010 when solo-sailing the North Atlantic from Las Palmas, Canary Islands to Mindelo, Cabo Verde.

Who’s that 1 charming fish you should never scare? Hint: He bears a strong resemblance to Stewie on Family Guy 😅 When scared the Porcupine Fish unhinges his jaw to gulp large amounts of water, quickly expanding his body into a round ball and extending spikes that cover his body. While this act does not kill the fish (a popular rumor which only occurs when near the surface, thus gulping air), it does stretch his skin/stomach and makes it very difficult to swim thus leaving him vulnerable for 5+ hours which is how long it takes him to deflate. A government mandate has been increasing the amount of ethanol in the nation's fuel supply, which not only damages boat engine and fuel systems but can present very real safety concerns. Mandating the increasing use of the ethanol was legislation passed in 2005, the Renewable Fuel Standard, which BoatUS (http://www.BoatUS.com/e15aGoodLawForYesterday), along with a coalition of groups, is now fighting to repeal.
