Jack Roy joined the board of Irish Sailing in 2013 and was President from 2017 to 2020. During this time he led with great talent and dedication, and always with a sense of fun and humour. The extent of his influence and popularity is shown in the tributes received by Irish Sailing from people around the world who worked with him during his presidency. Jack finished his presidency during COVID lockdown when face to face celebrations were restricted, so we marked the occasion by publishing his last speech and a slideshow of his time as Irish Sailing President. Week 5 of the season ending Frosties Regatta at Strangford Lough Yacht would bring racing for 2023 to an end. The crews were greeted with with 8 to 12 knots of breeze and sunshine on a cool autumn afternoon. The J109 Going To Red already crowned the Frosties Champion for 2023 the were left to race around on their own. The team on J109 GTR pushed hard with Ella at the helm, testing themselves by trying to race down the IRC2 fleet which started 5 minutes ahead of them on the race course.. GTR took a wide birth at the bottom mark which allowed them to hook up inside 4 boats at the bottom mark, this gave them clear air to tack out to what proved to be the favoured right hand side of the course going up the last beat.
