I swam with 2 humpback whales and they swam really close to look me over. What an amazing day. They moved slow and gently around me. Perfect day on Pogeyan.

In this episode of Sailing Sacred Seas, we say goodbye to the magical island of Ibiza and set sail on our second offshore passage to Mallorca aboard our Liveaboard sailboat, Kaia our Lagoon 440. With full sails and steady winds, we arrive just in time for a golden sunset in the bay of Peguera. We explore the historic heart of Palma, including the stunning Palma Cathedral (La Seu) and the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, before enjoying some authentic Mallorcan cuisine at a local favorite. Back on board, it’s time for some essential sailboat maintenance. We take down our headsail, inspect and lubricate the furling system, and patch a few tears on the leech. With Vika on the winch and Kaia back in shape, we’re ready to continue our journey. Ty is a skier. He grew up park skiing in Ontario. He chased the snow out West, determined to bag 900’s, cork 7’s and 60ft cliffs. He has been working in the ski industry since high school. Now he works as a waste water technician at our local resort. Have you locals noticed how delicious the drinking water is up there? Guys like him stay out of sight, and ski a lot. For Ty it’s about creating moments in the mountains that weave together into a life’s story. We are so glad that many of our stories intertwine with his. Long live the ski bum!
