I swam with 2 humpback whales and they swam really close to look me over. What an amazing day. They moved slow and gently around me. Perfect day on Pogeyan.

The 2022 summer created many more memories for the team at bottom up boats. Our Fav 5 Photos came from both the East and West Coast and North and South of Ireland. Photo 1 was a spectacular sunset over Kilrush Marina on the night before we started the delivery of our J109 to Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland. Photo 2 was from the South East corner of Ireland with the Sun Rising over Kilmore Quay Photo 3 is the our recently purchased J109 Going to Red under full sail on her home waters of Strangford Lough. Photo 4 was surfing down some wave at over 10 knot under just main and jib as we race to get to the Fastnet Rock before sunset. Photo 4 our Fav of 2022 was a spectacular sunset over the fastnet rock with the sun lighting up the top of the lighthouse to help guide us to our overnight stay on Cape Clear Island. She is now used for RYA courses, holidays and available for private charter. Golden Vanity is a class of sailing trawler known as a Mumble Bee, a 38ft Gaff Cutter. Learning to sail on the RYA Competent Crew course is quite different from modern yachts. She is all wood and, unlike our other boats, there are no winches on board (apart from an anchor capstan) which means the sails all go up by hand. Plenty of teamwork and a good technique, which we will show you, make this possible. We also offer the RYA Day Skipper course on Golden Vanity.
