We did a major refit on our sailboat, and one of the key jobs was replacing the cutlass bearings — the parts that support the propeller shafts and keep vibrations low when the props spin. To do this, we hauled the boat out of the water, dropped the rudders, pulled the shafts, and used a heat gun to loosen the glue holding the old bearings in place. Once they slid out, we pressed in brand-new bearings, reinstalled everything, and got ready to launch again! It’s one of those behind-the-scenes jobs that makes a huge difference in how smooth and reliable the boat feels underway. Ci siamo fermati qui dopo un weekend di navigazione piena. Abbiamo fatto tre giorni con una pausa notturna a Vis per recuperare qualche ora di sonno. Questa mattina facciamo come al solito il punto del lunedì. Pianificazione della settimana, organizzazione delle chiamate, controllo del meteo per pianificare gli spostamenti. I nostri due lavori procedono. Stare in barca richiede energie, richiede un’attenzione in più che non può mai essere tralasciata. Lo scotto di essere superficiali sulla programmazione è un rischio che preferisco non correre. Ma va bene, fa parte del gioco😊 Facciamo un pranzo veloce e riprendiamo dove eravamo rimasti ieri sera. Oggi Mia sembra volersi svagare cercando nuovi luoghi in cui curiosare. Del resto è un gatto😊 e finché è curiosa significa che sta bene! Ceniamo subito dopo lavoro e ci accorgiamo che sono le 22.
