Typically, our first Wrangel Island departure, 'Chukotka: Where Russia's Day Begins' includes a day at the annual Beringia Arctic Games and Chukotka Cultural Festival. This colourful event brings together and celebrates the indigenous communities of Siberia. Traditional song and dance performances grace the stage, whale-skin boat regattas are held, and artisans display carved bones, fur hats, beaded clothing and other hand-made art. Men compete in wrestling and weight lifting, and teams battle for a tug-of-war win.
