When the seas make navigation difficult and fatigue causes confusion, we search for beacons of light to help guide our way. We welcome these beacons of light as they bring us comfort and remind us that all will be well. They allow us to reset our course. When we put them abeam, we slow down and make a Moment in Time to remind ourselves of all those that have gone before us and all those that will follow behind. I am trying out my new whisker pole. It is telescopic and weighs just 6 kilos. The reviews were not fantastic but I bought it anyway with the downsides in mind. It works well so far in up to 25 knots from behind...I will ditch my other pole which weighs 20 kilos and is 14 ft long. This one telescopes from 7ft to 15 ft.
