🐋 The majestic sperm whale, also known as the cachalot, is the largest of the toothed whales and holds the title of the largest toothed predator. 🌊 Named for the waxy substance "spermaceti" in their heads, which aids in focusing sound, these magnificent creatures have a rich history. 💡 Spermaceti was once used in oil lamps, lubricants, and candles, but unfortunately, they were heavily hunted during the commercial whaling era. The pirates had bases on various islands and the mainland, from where they launched their attacks. They used fast and maneuverable ships, armed with cannons and other weapons, to overpower their targets.
