Day 11. Pretty exhausting day. The night started gusty, and we ended up hand steering most of it just to keep the boat going downwind. At some point we managed to adjust the sails and get things a bit more balanced, which helped a lot. In the morning, we set up wing on wing and decided to try a warp line to stabilize the boat. We used about 100 feet of line, a chain, and a fender… and it actually made a big difference. The boat settled down a lot more, which was a relief. Later, the wind shifted, so we had to change things up again and kept adapting as the day went on. It’s been a rough one. Five meter waves have been pretty normal, and we’ve been soaked more times than I can count from waves crashing over. Most of the day we’ve been sitting on the floor to eat, because it’s the only place that feels stable. But… we’ve also been flying. We hit a new speed record, averaging around 7 knots for most of the day, which is pretty wild. So yes, fun to go fast. But also very tiring. I won’t mind if it calms down a bit tomorrow. 🌊 ⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology. Endeavour Victory 35 Catamaran For Sale By Owner Additional catamaran photos, details, and equipment list as well as seller contact information can be viewed at: https://www.catamaransite.com/catamarans-for-sale/#post-45378 S/V Quartersplash is a 2000 Endeavor Victory 35 catamaran, for sale by owner. The name “Quartersplash” comes from the second owner who raced cars and almost broke the land speed record in the quarter mile dash. We are the third owner and purchased Quartersplash nearly three years ago in La Paz, BCS, but circumstances have changed upon the purchase of a home within a few miles of Puerto Escondido marina. She is light, nimble, and beautiful. We have enjoyed our time on the Sea with her and hope to find someone else who enjoys her as much as we did. Quartersplash is an ideal Sea of Cortez exploration vessel. Very stable, economical and comfortable platform sailing or at anchor. We made numerous additions and upgrades to Quartersplash. This a boat that is at home on the hook, dockside, or underway. She is an excellent sailing boat and comfortable to be on while offshore or at anchor. It is easily sailed single-handed as all lines lead back to the helm which has an electric winch. The helm can be fully enclosed in the event of inclement weather. The dodger provides excellent visibility and protection. Instrumentation includes a new (2022) Furuno depth sounder/fish finder; Raymarine Wheel Pilot, chart plotter, two USB outlets and an AC at the helm. Additional catamaran photos, details, and equipment list as well as seller contact information can be viewed at: https://www.catamaransite.com/catamarans-for-sale/#post-45378

Here's a glimpse of the upcoming build series of my new tender to Flying Spur! The mast sections are mated together by an inner-ring of epoxied carbon fiber tape The sail was cut from tanbark cloth by Sailrite. I assembled everything from there I decided to use a mast track instead of the common "zippered sleeve" for reasons of simplicity and durability. A small shim was used to "ramp" the track between the different-sized mast poles, and it glides really well. Music: "The Bottom of The Ocean" by Matt Garver
