Giornata in cui le mani non riescono a stare in mano. In barca è così: qualcosa da fare c’è sempre. Oggi i lavori in agenda sono due: impiombare la drizza del gennaker e stringere (più rimettere proprio) alcune viti nel rollafiocco. Nel frattempo succedono cose in cucina: pasta con peperoni, guacamole e vellutate. Di certo l’attenzione posta nella cambusa sta portando i suoi frutti. Speriamo succeda la stessa cosa anche con l’attenzione spesa nell’acquisto di esche e strumenti per la pesca! Oggi un pesce l’abbiamo preso, ma nessun segno di compagnia. Arriverà. L’evento di oggi è una sorpresa: a bordo non sapevamo di essere in 8. Qualcuno di molto tenero si aggirava per le cabine senza farsi sentire. Solo Ale era a conoscenza della sua presenza, avendolo portato senza passaporto. Signore e signori, ecco a voi Giorgio Cataratta. Il nuovo membro dell’equipaggio. Infinity Expedition is now in Mexico, our second stop of the current EarthFlag journey from Panama to Brazil. Once in Brazil, we will sail into the heart of the Amazon rainforest and back from there directly to the UN Climate Change Conferences COP30 in Belem. To increase impact, we launched Sail4Earth and a whole Flotilla4Change of sailing ships are joining us at COP30 to help protect nature with uon.Earth, promote the EarthFlag, and raise awareness for the importance of including Indigenous people and their knowledge of the world's largest rainforest when making decisions about Earth's climate and the environment. Our old sails, which remember Antarctica well, are worn out beyond repair and we need new sails to keep the EarthFlag sailing; North (Northwest Passage 2018), South (Antarctica 2022), West (Amazonas 2025), East (Oceania 2026). Sailmaker Doyle generously offered to produce sails for Infinity at only 55% of the usual cost, but we still can’t fund new sails alone. Infinity is the flagship of this flotilla, symbolizing the mission with the EarthFlag. Sails4Infinity Our sails are worn out beyond repair and we were offered generous support for a new mainsail, mizzensail, and headsail for Infinity. After discount, the sails still cost US$ 34 680. Luckily, our amazing community already raised US$ 4 744 through our own support page.
