Incredibile, no? Pizza, chiacchiere, passeggiatina, nanna. Un venerdì sera così ❤️ Domani visiteremo un po’ St Marteen in compagnia di Giorgio, che si è offerto di mostrarci alcune chicche dell’isola. A domani! C.
Fourteen days sailing eastern Indonesia aboard Katharina, a traditional wooden phinisi — a Rare Routes voyage that departed 20 September 2026. What happened on this voyage: Swimming in a sea cave. The trip opens inside a limestone grotto, floating in clear turquoise water beneath stalactites, with daylight coming in from the mouth of the cave. A river walk to a waterfall. Travellers wade upstream through the jungle along a guide rope to a waterfall dropping into a deep green pool. Sailing under tanbark sails. Katharina is a two-masted phinisi, hand-built from wood using methods passed down through generations of Indonesian boatbuilders. She sails properly — these are not decorative sails. Paddleboarding and kayaking. Stand-up paddleboards and kayaks go out from the ship wherever conditions allow. Here that meant glassy shallows at sunset, and a morning threading through mangroves below limestone cliffs. A village welcome. Dancers in traditional dress with feathered headdresses, and an arch of raised arms and coloured scarves that everyone walking ashore had to pass through. Village visits are arranged with communities beforehand — we come as invited visitors. Ancient rock art. Red ochre paintings on a sheer limestone cliff above the water, reached by tender. Rock art of this kind across the Indonesian archipelago is thought to be thousands of years old. Traditional boats under oars. Outrigger canoes and a larger rowed vessel came out to meet the ship, flying the Indonesian flag. A local market and a cooking demonstration. Time ashore to see what grows and what gets traded, and a demonstration of roasting over an open fire in a large wok. Dinner on the beach. One long table, string lights, and everybody at it—travellers and crew together, as most evenings end. A sandbank at sunset, with Katharina at anchor offshore, and a final night in the saloon with the crew. About the Rare Routes The Rare Routes are SeaTrek’s longer voyages — twelve to sixteen days — to parts of eastern Indonesia that most itineraries skip entirely. They exist because some places can only be reached slowly, by a small ship that can anchor where larger vessels cannot. #RareRoutes #PhinisiSailing #Indonesia #ExpeditionCruise #SmallShipCruising

A couple of explorers, modern-day documentarians, and cultivators of curiosity. We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us. Things We're Most Curious About... GETTING OFF-GRID Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. So self-reliance and sustainable living are a must. We've learned heaps about renewable energy, managing waste, creating safe drinking water and foraging for food. We carefully manage our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so. TALKING TO STRANGERS People are busy (even on remote islands) and travelers are a dime a dozen. It takes time to talk to strangers, and even more time to have a real connection. Going the extra mile to get to know someone is a commitment. Which is why these are our most treasured experiences. Setting off into the world with curiosity as our guide and nature as our compass. We talk to strangers and accept hospitality without fear or reservations. Both giving and receiving. ALTERNATIVE LIVING These are people who are doing things differently. Forgoing the mainstream, seeking freedom and living on the margins. Creative, unique and inspiring people who challenge our ideas of home and community. Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #BoatLife #Catamaran #Sailboat #Travel #LifeStyle © Gone With the Wynns 2024
