This is your chance 👀 Our Boatbuilding Experience Days are hands-on, immersive, and seriously good fun. ✨ What you’ll get stuck into: Steam bending oak to create a bent timber ring Fastening with traditional copper nail and rove Making a mobile phone stand using dovetail joinery Trying your hand at caulking Learning some classic knots and making a keyring to take home Plus… a guided tour of our boatyard! 🕤 Time: 09:30 – approx. 16:30 🍽 Lunch: Fish & chips provided (vegetarian/vegan options available) ☕ Tea & coffee available all day 👥 Who’s it for? Ages 14+ (no upper age limit!) Gail and I took the MAC up the lake and up the Waikato to almost the Whakamaru Dam. It took a few seconds from still to get on the plane, but the little 15hp performed really well. I guess with fuel and fishing gear and lunch etc - we had 250kg aboard + 200Kg boat and motor. Top speed 35 kmh.

In the middle of the night while anchored in Bahía Magdalena, something suddenly slammed into Cecilia Potts’ sailboat. 💥⛵ The whole boat shook, the mast shimmied, and they ran out of the V-berth wondering what had just happened. 😳🌊 Then they heard it — a whale blowing beside the boat. 🐋 Cecilia believes a young juvenile whale had bumped the hull.
