With the ever-increasing explosion of foiling into the sailing community Australian Sailing is working to develop programs and resources to support sailors and clubs to get involved in this new and exciting space. One of the first initiatives is the development of FOIL-LABs which are day long introductory sessions allowing participants to experience and learn about foiling. FOIL-LABs provide a safe space for sailors to learn and interact with a new type of sailing experience and equip themselves with new knowledge to take on foiling classes. Sailors will learn the fundamentals that drive a hydrofoils performance, as well learn about the body and physical relationships that offer a path to mastery. Mastering the basics gives more options to have more fun, more often. It also allows sailors to chase performance in a range of modern performance sailing classes in a fun and fulfilling way. Australian Sailing is pleased to be able to offer a number of Foil Labs across the country. Contact your Australian Sailing State General Manager to express interest and find out more!
I wanted to show you exactly how a boat anchor behaves on the sea floor. I found a nice popular anchorage where the tide had gone out, exposing the same sandy bottom that the boats in the distance are anchoring in, so we can see exactly what is going on, without the sea being in the way. If you measure the distance from the bow roller to the seabed at high tide, and pay out at least five times that much chain, which is known as 5:1 scope, the anchor should untangle itself and reset in most situations. We are skipper and hostess (available for hire), promoting sailing and naturist style of holidaying in Croatia. If you are a sea gipsy, a real sailor (I mean, sailing, not motoring your way), and like to stay away from main charter routs and marinas … this might be the right place for you. We sail 8 m boat on a tight budget, so we explore and look for all nice places where we can anchor without paying overpriced buoy fields and marinas. Local villages, restaurants, water and food supply.... www.wesailcroatia.com info@wesailcroatia.com
