(Anchored in Pantego creek, NC) I created a new HD bridle out of our Morgan's bridle! The boat's prior owners put on an awesome new HT chain but it's 3/8" (10mm) and the windlass gypsy is only 5/16" causing the chain to jump & pop, it's going to hit and crack gelcoat at some point! time to order a correctly sized Gypsy!#SailingtheGalaxSea #boatlife #anchor #sliceoflife

What does squelch actually do on your VHF radio? When no usable signal is being received, a VHF radio naturally picks up background noise — that familiar hiss. Squelch keeps the speaker muted until a signal is strong enough to break through. Set it too low, and you hear constant static. Set it too high, and you may block weaker transmissions you actually want to hear. A simple way to set it: lower the squelch until you hear static, then slowly raise it until the noise just disappears. That’s the threshold you’re looking for. #sailing #boat #sailor #radio #ship

Here's a glimpse of the upcoming build series of my new tender to Flying Spur! The mast sections are mated together by an inner-ring of epoxied carbon fiber tape The sail was cut from tanbark cloth by Sailrite. I assembled everything from there I decided to use a mast track instead of the common "zippered sleeve" for reasons of simplicity and durability. A small shim was used to "ramp" the track between the different-sized mast poles, and it glides really well. Music: "The Bottom of The Ocean" by Matt Garver
