The Stevedore's knot is a powerful stopper knot, like a super-charged Figure of Eight knot. 🔸 Make an overhand loop like you would in the figure-of-eight. Bring the working end round a couple of times instead of one (or just twist the loop) and tuck it through the original loop. Tighten Voilà! Easy! And even stronger than the Figure-of-Eight on video 2, although that is quicker to tie (just) if you are in a rush. 🔸 🔸 🔸 #sailing #multihulls #catamarans #knots #ropes #learnknots #learntosail #katschool #knot #rope #lovesailing #sailinglife #katamarans #stopperknot #katknots

Learn how to tie the Double Fishermans knot in a matter of seconds. The Double Fishermans knot is a great knot for joining two ropes of equal diameter. The additional turns in the main part of the knot provide some benefits over the single Fishermans knot, making it more secure when not under load while making it easier to undo after it has been under load. The additional loops in the double fishermans knot does result in a larger knot, if this create and issue then revert to the standard or single Fishermans knot. To learn how to do the single Fishermans knot in another one of our Know Knots video, click the link below to learn more. https://youtu.be/AvFgCYWvqyg Thanks for stopping by and watching Bottom Up Boats latest Know Knots video we would love to hear your feedback on our Double Fishermans knot video. Do you prefer the single or double fishermans knot ?

Born into an aristocratic air of racy intrigue, SUMURUN’s charms have wooed a select band of suitors since her launch at Fairlie. A legend in many lifetimes, SUMURUN is one of the most exquisite of William Fife’s large ‘fast cruisers’. For almost 110 years this 94ft ketch, formerly yawl, has been in commission and loved, most recently by the current owners who treated SUMURUN to a major 2017-2019 refit at Chantier du Guip. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/686/SUMURUN Return to classic racing late in 2019 was triumphant, with victory at Saint-Tropez. Rigged as a bermudan ketch since 1935, this handy configuration was retained but brought subtly up to date by Juan Kouyoumdjian. Under it, SUMURUN is perhaps consistently faster than ever yet retains the ability to cross oceans comfortably; something she has quite a reputation for. “Form is temporary; class is permanent”. SUMURUN is now seriously for sale.
