This boat is perfectly named as “Simplicity” is what the Canadian built Nonsuch is all about: one sail, one sheet, one halyard. We are thrilled to have a beautiful 30′ example on our Sales Dock as they very rarely come to market! Designed by Mark Ellis, Canadian Boating magazine sums up this cat-rigged vessel as ” being able to be sailed by 1 person who has no desire to leave the comfort of the cockpit”. But don’t let this description mislead you as there is tons of room inside and out for crew and guests. Topsides the large Main is easily handled hoisting via electric winch and lazy jacks make light work of folding the sail at the end of the day. All lines lead aft with self-tailing winches and the large cockpit is protected by a dodger and bimini. Anchoring is made easy by the Lewmar electric windlass and this vessel comes complete with davits for easy launching and recovery of a dinghy. Down below, the rig design creates an extremely open cabin space that feels much larger than her 30′ LOA. Entering the cabin you find a large comfortable seating area, galley with fridge/freezer, lots of storage, 2 burner stove and oven and pressurized hot and cold water. Moving forward, the large head (with separate shower stall that can also be used as a wet locker) can be accessed either through the main cabin or by the forward master cabin with large pullman style berth and opening hatches and ports for ventilation throughout the vessel. L’inizio di giornata non è dei migliori. Si, insomma, fa un caldo che ci si scioglie e parte mia mamma. Per il primo, basta fare un bagno (✅). Per il secondo, è tutta un’altra faccenda. Chissà perché i giorni sono pochi e scorrono a velocità doppia. Arriva presto il momento dei saluti. In questi mesi abbiamo decisamente fatto il callo. Si crea sempre un teatrino comico tra battute per alleggerire e lacrimoni che vogliono uscire e tanto un modo per farlo lo trovano. Dopo averla vista sparire nel flusso di studenti, famiglie e solitari, ognuno con una sua storia e una sua meta, ci avviamo. Andre si ferma un momento a guardare due anziani che si salutano. Lei capelli lunghi fino alle spalle bianchi come la neve, lui camicia stirata e appena larga su un corpo che appassisce lentamente. Chiudono gli occhi mentre si abbracciano. Torniamo a bordo e ci dedichiamo alla domenica. Bagno, pranzo, pisolino, pulizie. Chi riposa, chi chiacchiera. Io decido di pulire le murate di Julia che sono state macchiate da parabordi neri di pontili vari. Che lavoraccio, ma che soddisfazione. È la mia forma preferita di meditazione. E poi ora è tutto scintillante ✨ Per cena ci lasciamo un po’ andare. Gelato e cannoli. E le proteine? E il cibo salato? Ottima domanda. Vi rispondiamo appena ci passa la botta glicemica da zuccheri.
