This boat is perfectly named as “Simplicity” is what the Canadian built Nonsuch is all about: one sail, one sheet, one halyard. We are thrilled to have a beautiful 30′ example on our Sales Dock as they very rarely come to market! Designed by Mark Ellis, Canadian Boating magazine sums up this cat-rigged vessel as ” being able to be sailed by 1 person who has no desire to leave the comfort of the cockpit”. But don’t let this description mislead you as there is tons of room inside and out for crew and guests. Topsides the large Main is easily handled hoisting via electric winch and lazy jacks make light work of folding the sail at the end of the day. All lines lead aft with self-tailing winches and the large cockpit is protected by a dodger and bimini. Anchoring is made easy by the Lewmar electric windlass and this vessel comes complete with davits for easy launching and recovery of a dinghy. Down below, the rig design creates an extremely open cabin space that feels much larger than her 30′ LOA. Entering the cabin you find a large comfortable seating area, galley with fridge/freezer, lots of storage, 2 burner stove and oven and pressurized hot and cold water. Moving forward, the large head (with separate shower stall that can also be used as a wet locker) can be accessed either through the main cabin or by the forward master cabin with large pullman style berth and opening hatches and ports for ventilation throughout the vessel. Embarking on a global journey aboard our #catamaran "Tellus," which symbolizes #Earth in Latin, our #family's #odyssey is a fusion of #discovery and #resilience. Joined by our daughter, whose early #memories are interwoven with the sea, we navigate both challenges and rewards of life on the open waters. From the shores of France, we acquired our Lagoon 450s catamaran in July 2021. Venturing from La Rochelle to Gibraltar, we explored the Mediterranean in 2022, uncovering the treasures of Spain, France, Italy, and Greece. By November, we found ourselves captivated by the Canaries Islands, a prelude to the allure of Cape Verde. December 19, 2022, marked a pivotal moment as we embarked on a daring transatlantic crossing, bridging the gap from Cape Verde to Martinique. Battling tempestuous winds and towering waves for thirteen days and four hours, we celebrated our triumphant arrival. Test of the hover controller, in particular in yaw direction (multicopter frame, i.e. roll direction in airplane frame). The yaw is stabilized using the flaperons which are in the propeller wash. The flaperon deflections are visible when Chris pokes the kite with the broom. The controller quickly reacts and stabilizes smoothly the yaw angle back to zero. Note that differential propeller directions as used for small multicopter-drones do not offer nearly enough yaw moment for control authority of the kite's inertia or expected wind loads. In addition, such a control scheme greatly reduces the thrust for yaw stabilization. This is why this is not feasible for our system.
