To avoid terrible sailing conditions, we made the bold choice to cross the notorious Sulu Sea from Malaysia to Palawan, stopping overnight on an island deep in the red zone!? Known for pirate activity and unpredictable weather, this quickly became one of our most intense and nerve-wracking passages yet. We went freediving and snorkeling one afternoon off of Shell Beach in La Jolla, California. The water was above 70 degrees which is amazing for California.
