Shorts Lumikha

For the last 2 years, Franco and Manuel have been sailing on some of the world’s most unusual waters (Lake Titicaca, Loch Ness etc) in order to raise awareness of global warming and highlight the association Ocean Foundation who campaigns for the protection of the world’s oceans. The name of this initiative: The Grand Tour Sailing. On June 10th, they arrived in the spectacular Disko Bay, 350km for the Arctic Circle. The outside temperature was around 5°C with the water temperature at a brisk 2°C. The wind was quite light but the currents were strong. To immortalize this unique moment they indulged in some nautical jousting between the icebergs in the company of the Italian skipper Elisabetta Maffei. The next step for TGT ? Venice !

Owing to their bright and colorful and beautiful body, plumage, and feathers in the wings they are extremely fancied by humans. Their colorful body as a result has been a curse for them as they are constantly sought by bird catchers and hunters. (Photos by George Baccaloni)
