The fourth video covers the first part of the 3rd leg of our long journey. Was our advanced wx forecast accurate? What wx did we really have and was it expected? We are using PredictWind.com new Departure Tool to help us sail in good conditions during our sailing passages from Philippines to Tahiti, with Bob McDavitt as extra ace before long & crucial passages. On our way from Kavieng to Noro in the Solomons, we visited New Ireland, Duke of York and East New Britain in PNG. We did not stop anywhere along Bougainville or in any of the Solomon islands south of Bougainville to avoid problems with the Solomon Islands Border Patrol who does not let anyone stop anywhere before formal entry into the country, in our case in Noro, Gizo or Taro Filmed in March & April 2025. Next video will cover the second part of leg 3 from Boro to Graciosa Bay in the Solomon Islands

Conveniently located, just 3 minutes by speedboat from Segue airport, this small friendly lodge with just 2 over-the-water bungalows will please anyone looking for a comfortable guesthouse run by a nice family. Many different tours can occupy your days, from snorkeling a WWII plane wreck, a fishing boat wreck vertically positioned on a reef and several healthy coral reefs with great visibility to explore the Mbambata passage looking for birds & small crocodiles in the mangrove. This short video will give you a good idea to what to expect during your stay! We visited here for a week and really liked the hosts/owners, Juliet & Terry. Meet Nicely and his wife, the owners of what is nicknamed "the PT109 Base" since Kennedy was stationed there during WWII. See the island-memorial in 2025 and hear about future projects. The best way to visit is to take a day trip with Magical Munda Dive Center located in Munda: that way you get to also snorkel/dive on some WWII wrecks in that lagoon near PT109. See Euna Zam, the friendly Dive Instructor in Munda. Filmed in June 2026.

Dive with us on one of numerous WWII ship wrecks in the Solomons. The Toa Maru is best seen in scuba diving as the wreck lays on its side in about 25-30m of water. Water here was clearer that the previous wrecks we dove in PNG and Solomons but that is a question of luck depending on wx and tides. Filmed in April 2025.

We really felt welcomed in this small and very nice community in beautiful Pusiju Village. Watch the numerous traditional skills demonstrations, all with local music and singing. We were also fortunate to be here during an afternoon of youth fellowship in the area so we witnessed fun team-building games and Jackie gave a well appreciated cooking class on day 3. Wish we had more time to share with this very friendly community! A must place to visit for half a day (small cruise ships) or for several days (sleeping in the village guesthouse or be on a visiting yacht. Contact details at the end of the video. Filmed in May 2025.

We were lucky to meet Clem and to discover the amazing school he created on his tiny island. We spent a few days and had the opportunity to give intro to scuba to some of the students as well as to bring our 3 Schipperke dogs to the school to show kids how they can also train the islands puppies. The following video let you discover this unique and amazing school remotely. Filmed in February 2025. Location: Tunnung Island, New Ireland Province, Papua New Guinea Total Students: 45 / Teachers: 4 What is a Permitted School? A permitted school is a community-established school that operates independently but is officially recognized by the government. This structure allows us to tailor the curriculum to the specific needs of our island while still meeting national education standards-a critical balance that helps ensure our children receive an education that is both relevant and meaningful. A Different Kind of School Tunnung Permitted School is more than a classroom-it is a living, evolving learning environment designed to prepare children for life in their communities and the modern world. Our locally developed curriculum includes: - Rising sea levels and climate resilience - Marine conservation and reef health - Soil regeneration and sustainable farming - Poultry keeping and food security - Basic life skills for village life - Importance of gender equality - Dog training and animal behavior We actively engage with visiting international yachts, inviting sailors and yacht crew to share skills, stories, and systems onboard their vessels. Students explore: - Freshwater filtration systems - Solar and wind energy setups - Navigation technology - Safety and emergency procedures With support from the Coral Sea Foundation (Australia), students are learning underwater photography and are engaged in reef monitoring and data collection-with findings shared with James Cook University. We host school excursions, welcoming students from other schools so ours can deliver PowerPoint presentations on marine ecosystems-sharing with them not only content, but confidence, public speaking, and pride in their home environment. Recognizing the limited formal employment opportunities in PNG, we focus on preparing children for real-life success in their villages with the skills, knowledge, and values to thrive. Our Mission Founded in 2021, Tunnung Permitted School was created so that children could remain on the island with their families, rather than being sent away for boarding. We are committed to raising children in a safe, culturally grounded, and supportive environment, close to home and reducing financial burden to families. How Do We Know the School is Working? Growth-families from neighboring islands want to enroll their children with us. We see first-hand how empowered our students feel when they teach visitors about coral reefs or confidently explain how a watermaker works aboard a boat. Our long-term vision is to offer vocational education on the island, providing a pathway for students to complete their education at home, surrounded by family, culture, and community. We believe that another way is possible-and that it starts with schools like ours. Why We Are Seeking Support We are now requesting assistance to secure 15 pre-loved laptops or tablets for our students. These devices will allow us to: - Plan and deliver engaging, interactive lessons - Store, access, and share learning materials - Teach digital literacy - Connect with global educators and resources - Empower students to create and present their work - Support long-distance learning and future telehealth connectivity - They will also enhance our delivery of both traditional and skills-based programs, including: - Tourism and Hospitality - Reef Conservation - Agriculture and Permaculture - Basic Mechanics and Building - Environmental Monitoring - Reproductive health - Free diving (spearfishing) safety awareness - First Aid Conclusion Tunnung Permitted School is proof of what a determined community with a shared vision and strong leadership can achieve. With no government funding and limited resources, we have built a sustainable, student centered, and future-focused school. Now, we ask for your support to help us bridge the digital divide. Thank you for believing in community-led education and the future of our islands. The third video covers the actual 2 nd leg of our long journey. Was our advanced wx forecast of the second leg accurate? What wx did we really have and was it expected? We are using PredictWind.com and Bob McDavitt routing services to help us in our strategy during our passage from Philippines to Tahiti. On our way to Kavieng to clear in into PNG we stopped in Ninigo and Hermit atolls to deal with some of the technical issues and we really enjoyed meeting the people and discover briefly these very nice atolls. Note that we did inform Border Control authorities in advance to avoid any issue. Filmed in January/ February 2025. Next video will cover the 3rd long leg from Kavieng to Graciosa Bay in the Solomon Islands.
