Speaking with the band before the show, I could immediately feel that the band was really passionate by their performances. As U2 will soon celebrate their 50 years together as a band, their best tribute band has also performing together for many years! Peter (The Edge) started the band in 2003 and Dave (Adam) joined him at the very beginning. You can see the efforts in minute details, like mannerism & clothing to re-create U2 live concerts! Well done, guys! So if you ever get the chance to see a live-show of this top performing tribute band, you will be in for a treat! Every year, they create a new show, so for one, will be on the lookout for one of their international shows! A personal note about the show: it was great to be able to sit comfortably in an indoor theater, be near the stage so you can see the artists well enough and to have the sound not set way too loud … 3+ over open air shows!

Using satellite charts has the great advantage of better position accuracy over many traditional marine electronic (or paper) charts and they normally do not have un-surveyed less traveled areas on the ocean like electronic charts have sometimes. BUT it could be a grave mistake to believe that all obstructions are showing up on satellite charts. As you will see in this video of a blind breaker in Papua New Guinea, near Manus Island. Filmed in February 2025.

This small village in the north part of Duke of York island attract visitors by 2 small Japanese tanks sunk in just 8m of water during WWII right in front of the nearby cliffs. Jack, one of the locals show us around and Luc offered to fix electrical things to the villagers … was able to give elementary electrical instructions on how to test and replace batteries in cheap Chinese solar lights. Filmed in March 2025.

The fourth video covers the first part of the 3rd leg of our long journey. Was our advanced wx forecast accurate? What wx did we really have and was it expected? We are using PredictWind.com new Departure Tool to help us sail in good conditions during our sailing passages from Philippines to Tahiti, with Bob McDavitt as extra ace before long & crucial passages. On our way from Kavieng to Noro in the Solomons, we visited New Ireland, Duke of York and East New Britain in PNG. We did not stop anywhere along Bougainville or in any of the Solomon islands south of Bougainville to avoid problems with the Solomon Islands Border Patrol who does not let anyone stop anywhere before formal entry into the country, in our case in Noro, Gizo or Taro Filmed in March & April 2025. Next video will cover the second part of leg 3 from Boro to Graciosa Bay in the Solomon Islands

Meet Nicely and his wife, the owners of what is nicknamed “the PT109 Base” since Kennedy was stationed there during WWII. See the island-memorial in 2025 and hear about future projects. The best way to visit is to take a day trip with Magical Munda Dive Center located in Munda: that way you get to also snorkel/dive on some WWII wrecks in that lagoon near PT109. See Euna Zam, the friendly Dive Instructor in Munda. Filmed in June 2026.

Dive with us on one of numerous WWII ship wrecks in the Solomons. The Toa Maru is best seen in scuba diving as the wreck lays on its side in about 25-30m of water. Water here was clearer that the previous wrecks we dove in PNG and Solomons but that is a question of luck depending on wx and tides. Filmed in April 2025.

We really felt welcomed in this small and very nice community in beautiful Pusiju Village. Watch the numerous traditional skills demonstrations, all with local music and singing. We were also fortunate to be here during an afternoon of youth fellowship in the area so we witnessed fun team-building games and Jackie gave a well appreciated cooking class on day 3. Wish we had more time to share with this very friendly community! A must place to visit for half a day (small cruise ships) or for several days (sleeping in the village guesthouse or be on a visiting yacht. Contact details at the end of the video. Filmed in May 2025.
