A little video a made before Xmas, and forgot about. Figured I might as well post it as it is in the realms of 'Kind of Interesting', if you are interested in the loads sweating a dockline creates. Roughly made but there we go. This is a follow up video based on the first dockline load video I made. Hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think I got wrong :). Its been rare, but a couple of times I have come across situations where a sailboat cannot be brought into the dock by sweating a dockline. This is usually pretty extreme circumstances (+40knots of wind, very little protection from seawalls etc). It caused me to wonder, why can't a boat always be moved if sweating a line can potentially give an infinite tension on the line. This is a little bit of figuring out why that is. Heyyooo everybody! Thanks for being here! This week we are finally getting feeling a bit less sniffly and making our way onwards and northwards up the Atlantic coast of Portugal and into Spain (sorry for the spoiler). We will sail from Lisbon to Nazare, which hosts some of the largest waves ever recorded (!!!) and then make another couple of stints until we reach Galicia, Spain. We'll anchor up the river near Aveiro, and also in the outskirts of Porto. The winds that blow along this coast are pretty predictable this time of year. The trade winds that dominate this bit of sea will start to set in around the beginning of May, blowing North to South with very little break in between. With this knowledge in mind, we head north, where the water is blue, the dolphins are cute, and the food is good! A Quick thought of the day- something we often see miss- getting a dockline around a cleat from onboard/ from a little distance. Normally one of us steps off the boat to tie to a cleat, or passes a line ashore. Today, a little basic technique we were shown right back at the beginning of sailing we though might be useful for some people out there, let us know if you have better techniques . Hope you enjoy. Hello folks! This week on our liveaboard sailing vlog we finally encounter the sights and sounds of spring! Birds chirping, flowers blooming, and the.. lovely thunk of Ben's head against the mast as he's forced to go up the mast mid-voyage? Is this a classic spring activity for anyone else? Just us? Well certainly the first sail of the season was bound to come with a few problems to work out! We've been nestled away in our little corner of the marina all winter long, sitting nicely while mussels and barnacles made their home on our hull. But unfortunately for them, as the weather turns gentle and the days get longer, we cannot sit idly. They've got to come off. We've got places to be! But the question is, which places? Thanks for hanging out with us while we decide which direction to go. And by 'decide', I mean... stew in our indecision. But at least we were accompanied by our dear friend @SailingAlanouwoly , who lives and travels aboard her own 28 foot sailboat! If you've been here all winter, we appreciate you sticking it out with us as we did a boat load (hahahaha) of boat maintenance. To reward your valor and bravery, we shall present you with fun and sunshine and travels from this day forward! Maybe even the occasional dolphin if we're lucky! And if you're new here, welcome aboard :) you've arrived just in time. If you're really enjoying our videos and would like to buy us a coffee, you can do so at the link below! This week, a weather update, a dis-assembled steering system, UV damage repairs, reefing point, carnival, interior seat covers- finally, and the daily happenings onboard. What a lot for a week. Welcome to the sailing vlog where people just seem to repair boats instead of sail. A realistic view of what sailing is like for the majority of dreamers. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Making a few changes to our onboard water storage after deciding to open up what we though was a small 60litre tank we had never used and finding it was a 150litre tank.. Filtration, purification.

Welcome back to another episode of The Incompetent Crew. If you are a couple thinking of buying a boat, these episodes should show a little of the work and fun involved. This week we have Karli and Hazel going camping and me resenting Karli for it. A bit more boat work which should give the idea of why we are still in port and a bit more bright work because its about time. What is life like as a liveaboard- this is a pretty accurate depiction. A little insight into the off season from sailing and work we do and fun we have. For more from hazel go to - www.youtube.com/@UCWXzehQwyhG_-GJxhEuGsLQ If you are watching regularly and haven't already, Hit like and subscribe. It does help a lot. Hi, welcome to the channel. We are Benjo and Karlos. For 7 years we have been travelling around by bicycle, car, roof top tent, camper van, converted van. And right now- we travel on a 40ft sailboat. We chose the boat because of the free looking lifestyle sailing seemed to give and have been working to keep it afloat for the past 4 years. This is just a short glimpse into the winter work getting it ready for the next season as we try to upgrade from hanked on sails to furling sails. Each week we try to put a slightly fun slant on the pain it can be, and we have lots of fun doing so. If you enjoy the video, like and subscribe. If you don't, well, there is always the next one. Thanks for watching. If you really enjoyed watching, consider buying us a coffee as that money goes to projects like this. https://buymeacoffee.com/theincompetentcrew

A mini mid week video on how I get up and down the mast based on a few comments and observations from others over the last weeks. This should give enough info on the kit without it being a how-to which would be dangerous. Get some proper training please people. Hope you enjoy.
