Day 2 of our over nighter sees us sail off towards one of the most dangerous parts of Anglesey. "The Stacks" come in 2 parts. North Stack which has an angry but smaller area of disturbed sea and the bigger South stack that can see 4M standiung and breaking waves in the wrong conditions. The day has finally come and we make our way to Holyhead to get Welkin onto her mooring.....her home, for the summer at least anyway. These last few days have great weather so we're able to get a lot done and today is no exception. We get the head sails on and test them, checking all the furling gear works. We also get the tiller and rudder working, and ready for the season ahead. This is an important modification to do on the Sailfish 18 and it's important because of how the keel works. On the SF18 the keel is wound directky up and down with a worm screw. This screw can lose the bottom bearing whioch means you can effectively wind the keel right off. Today we get everything finally hooked up to the electrics system in on my Dinghy. First we hook up the new LifePO4 battery. Next we test the cabin lights, before turning our attention to getting the mast wiring into the boat. Today we take the mast and furler and comepltely re-rig it with new sheets and halyards. We also add in a new Jib halyard block position and sort out the spreaders. A sunny but cold day and we set to work on 2 big projects. Fristly we need to get the trailer stanchions cut to size. We can;t really mve the boat safely until this is done.
