Today I will replace the exhaust elbow (desperately in need of replacement), and the heat exchanger (also in bad shape) and I will take you along for the ride as I reassemble things!
Engine blow-by is a serious issue, but hard to measure out in the field. I have partnered with J-tec Flow Meters to help with field testing their new portable prototype blow-by test kit! In the recreational marine diesel world, blow-by issues with engines is a real common struggle, and having a way to collect actual data will help alot with gauging the health of an engine. Before we set off to try out the kit though, we need to make an adaptor for the engine we will be testing - so follow along as I machine a temporary adaptor out of whatever spare parts I had laying around at the shop!

Back in the 1880's C.C. Filson designed workwear geared towards the working man, hunter, and fishermen. Today they still produce the same style clothing made the same way they were 100+ years ago. As a blue collar worker in the heavy diesel field, I put my clothing to the test and Filson has met those demands. I do a quick review of my double tin pants, and tin cloth vest that I wear almost daily and why I choose to wear them vs. other brands.
