A walkthrough boat tour of one of the most beautiful hand crafted yachts ever built. The Spirit 72 Deckhouse.

2023 sees more and more radical designs than ever, yet somehow traditionally shapes still rock!

The Spirit 72 deck house is a total break for modern jargon and over tech builds and takes us back to classic shapes, with of course the ultimate in comfort and performance. What a blend!

Take a tour and imagine sailing this sailing this beauty or taking a whisky and relaxing in the warmth of traditional wood work!

What a journey the past 11 months have been! After spending the first part of 2020 continuing our research and planning, we were able to take the plunge and put down a deposit on a new catamaran which will become our live aboard yacht.

^^ This was written at the time this video was published. Sadly, things did not turn out the way we hoped....

After a rocky start to our passage to Croatia we experienced several days of smooth sailing. Our Australian Shepherd Rose discovered that dolphins exist, and we sailed through the Strait of Messina between mainland Italy and the island of Sicily.

Every time I step onboard an OYSTER I understand more of what it means when craftsmanship can lead to perfection. Oyster yachts are what dreams are made of and this Oyster 565 is no exception, just perfection.

Episode 395 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia

Hello Friends,
On this episode we say goodbye to Lizard Island and sail on, continuing north we stopped at the Flinders Group for a few days and visited Stanley Island to see the fantastic aboriginal cave art. We also had some close up encounters with a few Dugongs.

Here is additional information about the cave art we saw: https://www.bbc.com/travel/art....icle/20141211-explor

Continuing on, we sailed past Restoration Island on our way to Margaret Bay. I read a passage from the book "Men against the sea" about Captain Bligh and his men's harrowing journey. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_Against_the_Sea

SailingAquarius

This video was filmed in the middle of June - before Hurricane Beryl. And I understand that now sadly most likely it looks differently… But I think it’s important to see those islands’ beauty before the disaster as all we get to see nowadays is the sad state that was left after the hurricane…

After the quick rig tune was finished in Martinique we and our friends took off straight to St Lucia and then moved on to the beautiful islands of St. Vincent and Grenadines. We fell in love with those tiny cute islands when we first visited, and we were delighted to take you there again. Please join us!

And thanks so much for watching 🙏

I started 2020 from Fehmarn, Baltic Sea. My vision: to cross the Atlantic and the Pacific, then sail up the Tamar River to Launceston, Tasmania. Like Joshua Slocum, the first solo sailor around the world, 124 years ago. But here came Covid and restrictions everywhere. I wasn't able to cross the Atlantic and had to move to the Mediterranean.
Now I've almost made it. I'm in Tonga. It's 3000 nautical miles, 6000 kilometers, to Launceston. This video is about the last leg of a long crossing: three years, two oceans, one destination.

The Saare 41.2. Looking for a brand-new solid cruising yacht with decent performance, quality craftsmanship and high comfort levels? Then Hallberg-Rassy, Malo and Najad are probably your top-of-mind brands. Add Saare to that list.

This yard built over 200 Finngulf yachts in Estonia before going it alone. Now, under German ownership, Saare listens to all your needs and uses its experience to build a boat that suits your cruising programme exactly. It’s one reason they build just 5-6 yachts a year. Chris Beeson got on board at Boot Dusseldorf 2025.

Ropes are ropes right? Wrong!

The blue ocean double braid rope is the same as the staple double braid used by most cruisers, it's a belter! Although here we are looking at the same characteristics in a environmentally friendly version? Seems too good to be true, I’m this episode we find out what it’s all about.

Im hit by the wind force of a CAT1 Hurricane out at sea!
Sailing 1081 nautical miles solo fighting my way through endless numbers of violent storms and even hurricane force winds in the Banda Sea.
This is a true story and not a youtube storm or drama. Its the reality of sailing the Banda Sea during rainy season with the north west monsoons and even cyclones that creates ridiculous weathers.
Amazing close up video of a cyclone forming and the battles I had that even cost me sails after a full knock down in gale force 12 - 72 knots of wind.

Im even sharing my strategies and why I added 731 nautical miles to my route. How the weather patterns works in the Banda Sea, and the effects of the cyclones. Strong ocean currents and also sharing a best time to cross the Banda sea timeline.

I hope this video not only works as entertainment but even could be of a value for sailors coming this way in the future. Its not ment to scare you off, but to share what you can expect and why Indonesia is among the most complicated nations to sail. Especially as a solo sailor.

If you ever wondered about my earlier statements about why you need a strong engine and even a range of minimum 500 nautical mile, this episode could enlighten you a bit. This is a prime example why going blue water (CE category A) without engine is stupid, and why a fully electric is in the same category.

Thank you so much for tagging along, and for the patron's support in making this video possible.

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
I'm a sailor with a YouTube channel and not a YouTuber. Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it.
Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me.

Even though this is season 6 on YouTube I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 6 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience as a captain in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.

Thanks to LMNT for sponsoring this video! Head to http://DrinkLMNT.com/LAURENLANDERS to get your free sample pack with any purchase.

Last year I made the decision to branch out of my comfort zone (The Bahamas) and sail to Grenada for hurricane season. The Bahamas is not an easy place to leave, but eventually a beautiful weather window approached and it was time to really leave. Not only was I leaving a place I called home, but I was heading offshore for multiple days alone! My longest single-handed passage up until this point was 36-40 hours and now I was going for multiple days AND into one of the most feared passages; the Mona Passage. Join in the fun to see what 650 nm and 5.5 days offshore looks like.

Give a little extra support 💞 The circumnavigation is JUST beginning...all of your help goes towards more gear to make the videos a bit better and the boat safer and more functional for myself as a single hand (and maybe an extra treat for Mako)
