After weathering winds of 50+ knots in Mallorca we set about destorming the yacht before heading to shore with our Australian Sheppard Rose to make the most of our only day of good weather on the island - it ended up with us bouldering up a mountain ridge! The next morning the conditions were right for us to continue sailing on to mainland Spain then along the coast towards Gibraltar, enjoying peaceful bays and stunning sunrise and sunsets.

Here at Shoreline Marina in Long Beach, CA we have a boat auction twice per year. In this video I bring you along with me to watch bidders buy boats for super cheap. Some of them didn't even get a bid and weren't sold at all. The opening bid for a sailboat is $400 and they still didn't sell.

These sailboats are run down and dirty. Most of them wouldn't be worth fixing up and doing the whole DIY sailboat refit but some of them are worth fixing up.

Although this was a good auction with decent boat inventory I've seen better boats at past auctions so be sure to subscribe if you want to know when the next auction is happening and see my next boat auction video.

The weather predictions and navigation warnings were promising high seas and strong winds.
I wanted to go sailing to test my boat and gear as I love sailing in strong wind. Such a long time since I had really good sailing because normally the wind is not that great in the Caribbean. The last time something similar to the conditions back home or in Europe was when beating my way from Panama to Martinique.

Living in Grenada has been such a blessing not only because it's the friendliest people in the whole Caribbean, but also a covid free bubble for a long time. Did lots of sailing on different yachts, explored the island, and made tons of new friends. But now it's time to start sailing!
Everything I do and has done last months is more or less preparing for my Pacific crossing.

| Season 3 | Episode 51

Welcome to Season 3 of my channel!

On this episode we push off from the Alsvik Marina on the island of Yxlan and motor through the archipelago to the city and fort of Vaxholm. Vaxholm was a lovely harbor with lots a faculties, shops and an incredible fort I explored the day we arrived. It was nice to finally be back to civilization after such a long stretch of being in the wild islands of Åland.

This season will follow my time on board SV Arcturus as we explore the Åland Islands and beyond. We sail into cities, tie up on small islands, anchor bows to and ride out a blow before heading back to Sweden. I hope you will follow along with us on the trip.

The yacht works we wanted done in Africa came to an end meaning it was time for Trent and Tynan to sail our Leopard 45 more than 4500 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Town, South Africa, to Gibraltar in Europe.

At the same time Rose (our Australian Shepherd) and I needed to get to Gibraltar to reunite with the boys after months apart and move aboard the catamaran. The best way to do this was a van life road trip, driving over 3000km from Austria to Spain.

On this episode we slip the line at Castle Lagoon and make our way deeper into Cowan Creek. It echos our time in the Marlborough Sounds of New Zealand with its deep coves and inlets and general lack of manmade structures. After not finding good holding to anchor, we continue on to Twilight Inlet and pick up a mooring ball for the night.
