This was the first video by Ken with new software, Final Cut Pro, and there was a bit of a learning curve. I have been pushing Ken to finish the Vid for a few months, but this was worth the wait!!!! In a very detailed way, I think too much detail sometimes, Ken shows a number of the system aboard Aquarius and how they work, like the bow thruster and a look into the engine room, and….. so much more!

Our time in Turkey is over. We just need to get some fuel, as it's half price compared to Greece and check out process in Gocek.
Winds did not look promising but we took our chances...

What an adventure! This is (hopefully) our longest sail ever! 21 days without seing the shore and many nautical miles away from it.
Distance covered: 3,520 Nautical Miles or 4,050 miles or 6,519 kilometers with some squalls and some wave height of 3+ meters… Sail changes countless times some not scary and some a bit frightening squalls with max wind strength of 36 knots or so. Only few boats encountered during all this time.
We stacked a lot of food and shared what we provisioned but we also caught a Mahi Mahi, that was so good!
Some a bit scary and lots of rewarding and pure magic like night shifts and the stars at night. It's incredible out here without any interference of other lights. We were lucky to capture some of it on video.
What seemed so crazy and incredible in the beginning that last hour was indescribable joy and gratitude for this experience.

As we move north at a fairly fast pace, island-hopping from Trinidad to Grenada and then to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, we pause for a longer stay in beautiful Bequia. It’s a sailor’s paradise with great vibes, and we love it here… until someone loves it too much—enough to “put down roots” with a 1:10 chain scope in a busy anchorage during peak season.
Um… yeah. No point looking for common sense here. So, we move on—to a more exposed, much rollier anchorage further away.
As our friends catch up and we get to share a dinner together, it’s time to take off again. We decide to skip St. Vincent and sail straight to St. Lucia—either Soufrière Bay or, if the favorable winds hold, all the way to Rodney Bay.

We left Sicily, Italy as we saw approaching storm. In hopes for the better shelter we sailed 245 NM to Sardinia island, Cagliari. Our initial plan was to anchor, but plans changed and we ended up in Marina Saint’Elmo during the 28th August, 2023 storm.

I was not very impressed with marina’s protection as the breakwall was quite far away and it had an exposure to the winds but it seemed as a better option being in a rolly waters and especially using dinghy in these conditions…
And and the price - it was THE most expensive marina we have ever stayed 580 Euro for 3 nights it 215 USD per night!
Very soon the storm came and it did not look pretty… Actually - It was CRAZY!!! 49 knots of wind and lots of damage done…
You have to see it yourself…

but then - storm calmed down and we were able to enjoy Cagliari city tour and some nicee company.
After we sailed North of Sardinia enjoying beautiful vistas on the way to Corsica…

We are still enjoying Croatia @SailingAquarius our second set of friends just left and we are off by ourselves until in the evening we meet up with our friends we Met in Greece 3 months ago! - So happy to get together again - and we are sailing again - to an island called VIS, which has some very special place, that we are about to visit…

And just couple hours later we get a “pleasure” to meet Bura (Bora) - a cold NE wind, which blows predominately in Croatia, it reaches stormy speeds of up to 300 km/h, predominately in the night time when the land cools down.

In this video we start out showing the systems which control the mainsail. We take down the main, and also show the emergency procedures if the outhaul, or furler motors fail. We fine a bat, and it flies away with a bit of encouragement. In part 2 I will complete the rebuild of furler, and part 3 we will rebuild the outhaul.

Aquarius was at her last stop in French Polynesia, and her Dessalator water maker started making saltwater! Would we head back to Raiatea, or move ahead without a water maker. At that point Ken thought it was time to learn more about the water maker, and thought we would take the rest of you along for the ride.

After settling in at Bay of Island Marina, New Zealand, we met up with Rick from Open Ocean. We had Open Ocean replace the bad membrane, and manufacture a new end cap that had cracked. Rick also gave Ken a little tutorial on the water maker technology.

After whole month we leaving Croatia. We filled up and checked out from Dubrovnik and headed straight across Adriatic Sea towards Italy. Our first stop - Otranto, then Santa Maria Di Leuca - cities at the very bottom of Italy’s Boot Heel. After Crossing Indian Ocean we stopped in Uligan island - one of the most northern islands in Maldives. We checked in and jumped for great snorkeling. We were so lucky as when we arrived First ever - Maldives Yacht Rally was about to start from the same island! So we joined it :D And boy oh boy did we enjoyed it! Lots of cultural shows, authentic crafts and foods. Very welcoming and generous people... And we been so spoiled by the organizers and and everyone we met! You must join us and see with your own eyes! :)

This is an easy way to create Satellite overlays for OpenCPN with a Mac or a PC in 30 minutes or less. That is the set up time, once you are set up, you can create a Satellite overlay in about 5 minutes start to finish. Anyone can do it now quickly, and easily before a crossing with a decent internet connection.

Our friends tell their sailor tale about their boat getting detained in Italy. Aquarius also had some problems with the authorities in Italy, and Z Admiral and I also felt like Aquarius was targeted by the Italian Coast Guard because we were flying a foreign flag. We didn't feel comfortable being in Italy with Aquarius, not as bad an Egypt, but close. But, after hearing this sailor tale...... Well, lets just say... now I know why I felt this way while sailing in Italy. Cheers...
